BRING IT

I'm down in Dallas getting ready for a big one. Saturday at 10am starts the final decathlon in the country before the Olympic Trials. The start list includes Nike's Trey Hardee who has carried the world leading mark for most of the season at 8,371 points. Also towing the line is Jake Arnold (a part of last year's USA world championships team) and Mustafa Abdur-Rahim who scored 8,106 earlier this year. There are a slew of other studs as well. 19 athletes are on the start list at the elite level, most of them having scores over 7,000.

I'm feeling good both in the flesh and in the faith. I have a ton of support that will be joining me, including Sandy; Caleb, Ashley, and Danny (from Boise); My parents, Scott Lee and Tyler Young (Sandy's little bro) from Kansas City; and my Uncle Don from Noel, Mo.

Unfortunately, not a single one of them know anything technical about the decathlon ;) and my coach has had to bail at the last minute because of a serious case of the kidney stones. He has been trying to battle them out for a couple of weeks now and they finally got the best of him. In over a decade of coaching, this will be his first track meet he has missed for illness.

As for me, I'm feeling pretty good. The left leg tug of war between hamstring and quad have calmed down, which has been giving my knee a much needed break. Those three body parts will be the main threat to me not qualifying this weekend, but i am believing they will stay silent due to much therapy and prayers of great faith.

I'll try to post after day one, and then again after it's all over. I'll be competing from 10am-4pm tomorrow and 9am-4pm the following day.
